With a bit of practical understanding on the keyboard during these times of electronic revolution, anyone can become a player in almost any field. The world outside is still functioning around us, however. Crime is increasing while you sit in front of the computer, but that doesn't need to keep you up at night. Technological products on the market today can keep you safe.

Security video monitors will help keep an eye out when you can't. While security video monitors aren't a new idea, they've come a long way from the old ones we still think of when we visualize the term. The latest video monitors come in a range of sizes for every need, but consumers should be wary of the smaller ones. Because small monitors can be difficult to make out fine detail, they can't always show you who the person at your door is. Most of the experts in the field also suggest a specialized monitor over a direct feed to your television, for the sake of better resolution. While the video monitor system is a traditional method that has proven to increase security around any building, new advancements can make your home even safer.

Some of the latest motion-sensing devices can tell the difference between the family dog and a neighborhood thief. Motion sensors come in wireless or hardwired versions, with the wireless being the most convenient. Also, there are outdoor models that are weatherproof, which means you can set these sensors outside your home in inconspicuous locations. Most sensors can be activated when you choose to do so, if you prefer to shut them off during the day and turn them on only at nighttime. Ranges vary from just a few squared feet to several thousand and technologies include microwave and infrared.

The microwave and infrared technology is very sensitive and not always suitable for a home. Experts suggest a variety of other motion-type sensing devices. The acoustic sensor detects the shockwave from a pane of breaking glass, which is most helpful for warning of entry via basement windows.

Experts suggest an acoustic sensor for the home over the highly sensitive microwave or infrared technologies. Acoustic sensors can detect the vibration from a shattering pane of glass, giving people a warning about a break-in they might not otherwise hear. Another type, the photoelectric sensor, shoots an invisible beam of light from one point to another. When the steady beam is broken, an alarm warns of the intrusion. Some sensors detect trouble of another kind. Vibration sensors can let residents know of an impending earthquakes by tripping at the slightly tremor.

Evil lurks in the darkest places. In a van next to your car at the mall or behind a bush on your favorite jogging path, an attack can happen unexpectedly.

In some life and death situations a split second is all you have. How do you defend yourself? With a gun? What if you miss or what if the attacker surprises you? Or worse yet, in a moment of panic you mistakenly shoot an innocent person.

The damage from a gun is permanent and often times ineffective during a struggle. The Scorpion 200 could mean the difference in saving your life because it gives you two powerful "non-lethal" defence mechanisms in one. Paralyze them with 200,000 volts or blind them with pepper spray. If you're fortunate enough to spot an attacker from afar you can temporarily blind them with an accurate liquid stream of fire from up to 6 feet away.

In most cases when an aggressor surprises you and gets close it's over. The Scorpion gives you a fighting chance. Most standard stun guns only give you the power to momentarily disorient an attacker. The Scorpion's 200,000 volts of power will put an attacker down and keep them down for nearly 30 min.

When it comes to your personal safely you never want to take any chances. This is the most powerful non-lethal self-defence device on the market. It's solid and lightweight with a grip able to comfortably accommodate small or large hands. The Scorpion is made in Eastern Europe and is standard gear for many top police agencies in some of the world's toughest neighborhoods.

You, your wife, girlfriend, daughter or anyone you care about should never be alone without this vital self-defence weapon.
