There could be many reasons why someone would want to retrieve a criminal report for an individual. Those who are looking to hire individuals for a position at their company or are looking to find out about individuals they may be involved with in other ways, can search in court records to find out information. Performing a background check on an individual can give you insight into their criminal past and let you know if this is an individual that you want to bring into your company or home.
It is not as difficult to obtain a criminal report on someone as you may think. Examples of data that can be found are felonies, misdemeanors, traffic violations and sex offenses. Evictions, liens and judgments can also be accessed. Are you looking for information on a love interest, neighbor or coworker? There are lots of ways to find that information online. However, if you see the title "Free Background Check," then beware! They are usually not free! The initial search may be free; they will search for the records and do complete background checks on anyone. Then, however, you must pay a fee to view the information, even though it may be considered public records. Consider the urgency of having the information when you decide what company to use.
If you are ready to search for an individual's criminal report, then you need some basic information. In court records you need the correct legal name, birth date and social security number if possible. Some people have a completely clean criminal record, but for those that don't; you can look in court records and find all charges that have been filed against them. There are three different types of crimes. The first is an infraction. This type of crime is not as serious as the others, and usually does not require jail time, just a fine. The next is a misdemeanor. The punishment could be jail time or jail time as well as a fine. Access to court records can usually tell you what the punishment was. The next type of crime is a felony. These are punished by jail time. Doing a criminal record search on someone might bring surprising results.
Lots of information can be found about anyone if you want to take time to look for it. It is not as difficult as most people seem to believe. If you are hiring a new employee or just checking up on a prospective date, then you can find their criminal report, as well as military records. Public records can be viewed by anyone and can give you information to help you make decisions about whether to hire someone for a job or simply if you have reason to find out more about their criminal past.
