Have you ever interviewed someone for a job and wondered if they had a criminal record or something bad on their credit that would show their true history and/or character? Have you ever dated someone and wondered the same thing? These days we live in the information age. Information that is public record is searchable by anyone. All you have to do is send a letter to the department of records indicating that you want to do a free public records search in whatever town you live in, or the department of motor vehicles or even the local police department and, if the information is freely available, you can get all sorts of information on the person you are wondering about.

Job Interviews

When someone comes in for a job, of course they’re not going to divulge whether or not that have a spotty credit history or a criminal record, especially if you work for or own a company that cannot afford to hire an investigative service to find such information. People go to job interviews to point out the positives about themselves, to sell themselves and to make themselves appear as marketable as possible. If you can’t afford to hire an investigative company or team to check this person out, they could be anyone. They could have shabby credit (if that’s important to the position), they could have a criminal record, or they could hiding something completely different that may point to the fact that they’re not really who you’re looking for. Free public records searches can give you the information that you seek and you won’t have to pay for it.

Potential Mates

First dates are a lot like job interviews. The person will build themselves up and they will seem very interested in what you have to say. But all the while you really have no idea what that person is all about or what skeletons are hidden in their closets. That’s what makes free public records searches so valuable when it comes to judging whether or not you should see that person again. Is that spying? Kind of. But at least you’ll know what you want to know if that person isn’t going to divulge the information about themselves.

These are only a couple of examples for when free public records searches can give you the important information you seek. The information is there and it’s free. You just have to know how to request these free public record searches and from where.
