How A Reverse Cell Search Could Lead To Identity Theft

One of the dangers of reverse cellphone searching, is that a reverse cell search can be the beginning of identity theft ...
A reverse cell search can bring users receiving unwanted phone calls a tremendous advantage. Once you find out where the calls are coming from, then you can ask your wireless service provider to block that number for you. On the down side, a reverse cell search can also be the beginning of identity theft.
Reverse Cell Search - The Dangers It Can Bring
A reverse cellular phone search diminishes the anonymity that has become traditionally associated with a wireless phone service. Instead of enjoying continued safety and security that a landline cannot offer, the name and address that is registered to a particular cell phone is information that can be accessed immediately.
Other people may use your name to establish a phone service. The service may be under your name while someone else uses it and the phone company bills you for the calls made and received. As soon as you find out that this has happened to you, then you need to report this to your wireless service provider to have the phone line cut off immediately. You will need to open a new account if you wish to continue the service. You also need to choose PIN numbers and passwords that cannot be easily guessed by other people. Oftentimes, it should be a combination of both uppercase and lowercase letters as well as numbers.
It may be difficult to convince the telecommunications companies of the fraudulent charges made on your phone bill or that you have indeed become a victim of identity theft. Once this happens, you can also contact the appropriate government agency for further assistance. For long distance calls and cellular phone calls, the Federal Communications Commission is responsible for handling disputes and violations of the law. You can simply visit their website or drop them an email for support on your problem.
Remember that identity theft is not limited to phone fraud through a reverse cell search. It can also infiltrate other parts of your life including tax fraud, passport fraud and even mail theft. As long as you are alert and vigilant, then you do not have to be a victim of this fast-spreading crime.
