There are many things out there on the internet that you can download if you know where to look. One of the most common things that people will search for is free public records. Generally speaking these records are harmless, but in some cases they can prove to be very damaging. By understanding what is available in public records free you can have a good idea of what people can find out about you. In addition, you can then use those free public records to find out information about other people, businesses and properties.
What Is Available In Free Public Records
The first and easiest thing to find out is criminal information. This free public record is a history of you or another person’s criminal history. Many times employers will check this to make sure that you have not committed any serious offenses. In most cases this record will contain all non-expunged criminal offenses and may also include traffic offenses such as speeding and drunk driving. Depending on the county these free public records can be limited to actual convictions while in others in can include arrests, charges dismissed, charges pending, and in some cases even charges to which the person was acquitted. These records are kept at both a state and federal level, so depending on the severity of the crime and the violation will determine where it is stored.
Part and parcel with this is the free public records on sexual offenses, although these are different in most cases. Many times the record on registered sexual offenders is much easier to get then other criminal and free public records. This information is even passed out and published to local neighborhoods so they are aware of the threatening presences in their community.
As far as free property records are concerned, there is a wealth of information available for free that you can find at the local town hall or online. Recent appraisals, any liens on the property, as well as the list of owners are all freely accessible. You just have to take the time and do the research and you should be able to dig up this information without and problem. I have used this information every time I bought, and choose not to buy, a home. It has proved very valuable in the past and saved me thousands in a bad investment. Taking advantage of these free public records is something that everyone should do.
