Reverse calling is a service that allows you to transfer the cost of the call to the person that you are calling. Whether you are frequently making expensive calls and need to ask someone else to pay for them or if you are stuck in an emergency situation where you do not have enough loose change to make a call through a payphone, a reverse call is the perfect solution for you.

Reverse Calling - How It Works

The function for making reverse calls has to be made in conjunction with your wireless service or telecommunications provider. They should be able to offer you this service on your landline subscription or prepaid mobile phone plan, depending on which you own.

To make a reverse call, you will usually be asked to dial a set of numbers that indicates that you intend to transfer charges to the receiver of the call. After dialing those numbers, you will be asked to input the numbers of the person that you are calling. Then, you will be asked for your name. The call is automatically routed to that person, who will be informed that you wish to place the call. The person receiving the call always has the option to receive or reject the reverse call that is being made by you.

If you try to make a reverse call to a line that is in use at the time of the call, some telecommunications providers also allows the additional service of leaving a reverse message. The way this works is very similar to how a traditional voice mail messaging service functions.

If the line is busy, you should not hang up right away if you want to leave a reverse call message. You will hear some instructions on how to leave the message shortly. You can ask the service provider how many times they will attempt to relay the message for reverse calling in a span of twenty-four hours. While this varies from one service provider to another, the average is about six times in a day, to ensure that the message does get through to the intended recipient.
