When you need to find a name by phone number, you will need all ten digits, which includes the area code and the seven digit telephone number. Most of the search engines available on the Internet will be able to interpret the numbers even if you place dashes, parentheses, spaces and periods between them. If you do not know the area code but have a general idea of the vicinity, it is very easy to find this on any listing of area codes on the Internet.
Find a Name By Phone Number – More Searching Tips!
If you only know a few digits of the ten digits that are required or are uncertain about particular digits in the number, then you can conduct a wildcard search. This means placing an asterisk in the place of the number or numbers that you do not know and the search engine will look for all numbers that are in that place. This will give you a larger amount of results but it also means more effort on your part to narrow down the telephone numbers until you get to the one that you need.
If you are looking for a number that exists within a phone exchange for a business or corporation, the process will be a bit different. Providing just the area code and the exchange will yield an unusually high number of results so more particulars for this type of search will be required. You will be asked to provide the name of the business or any keyword that has a relation to the business in assisting the search. Other details that may be asked from you would be the general location of the company such as a street, a city or a state where it is situated in.
You can actually conduct the search on Google by placing the numbers in a required format. The search on Google and other commercial search engines is usually limited to landlines compared to searches undertaken through telecommunications companies or those that specialize in how to find a name by phone number. Since Google has a mapping function, you will also be able to see the location of the address.
